ALL MARVEL STAN ARE MISS THE OG SIX IN THE POST-ENDGAME ERA

Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War was a truly epic conclusion to a decade of storytelling, and MCU phase 4 faced a difficult task in following it up. The Infinity Saga featured a cohesive, overarching narrative and a carefully planned build-up to an ending that paid dividends on audience expectations. Following the end of phases 1–3, Marvel fans argue that phase 4 is not memorable.

Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr) presumably held the MCU together during phases 1-3, becoming the leaders of The Avengers and rallying all the heroes behind them. Their absence in phase 4 of the MCU was felt deeply, as the question of who will take over their roles remains a dangling thread that has yet to be pulled, with no clear leaders emerging in the larger story even after phase 4's entire lineup of movies and TV shows. Marvel fans believe that the OG 6 carried the whole Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel Cinematic Universe will definetely different without them.

Phase 4 started with TV series, WandaVision. Disney and Marvel believe that their movies and their series will be more popular than phase 1 through 3 so they are more concerned about quantity over quality. Subsequently, MCU phase ultimately failed to provide audiences with any concrete plans for the MCU's future. Instead, in phase 4, it felt like characters and stories were being introduced without any real connection to the larger MCU, while the next great threat, Kang (shown in Loki season 1's finale), was only seen once.

MCU phase 4 was marred by a lack of leadership for The Avengers. Going into phase 5, there's still no clear indication of who is an Avenger — no clear villain, no clear direction in terms of where it's all going, and an abundance of content that meanders in tone, style, and theme.

Viewers only need to reconsider factors such as consistency, character, story, and execution to understand why MCU phase 4 is the worst phase yet. MCU phases 1-3 weren't perfect, but they felt connected to one another and built toward a final settlement from phase to phase, building hype and whetting fans' appetites for what was to come next.
