The film adaptation of "The Whale" concludes with a breath, a bright light, and a beach. The final image depicts the sun shining, the tide rising and falling, and a younger, slimmer version of the main character, Charlie (Brendan Fraser), staring out into the ocean while his daughter plays in the sand behind him.

The movie The Whale is one of the hot topics because actor Brendan Fraser recently received a standing ovation at the premiere. It follows Charlie, an overweight English teacher trying to reconnect with his daughter, Ellie (Sadie Sink), who drifts away from Charlie after he leaves his wife and daughter for a man. When his lover dies, Charlie begins to binge eat as a reaction to the loss, and as a way to cope with his pain and depression. Now weighing 600 pounds (272 kg), Charlie may not live long. Struggling with loneliness, guilt, and an unknown existence, Charlie wants to find his way back into his daughter's life even though he feels guilty for leaving her.

"The Whale" may appear to be gentler at first glance, but its main point appears to be to put the camera in front of Brendan Fraser, who is encased in a fat suit that makes him appear to weigh 600 pounds and ask us to wallow in his deterioration. The film was distributed by A24 and had its North American premiere during the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival in September.
